Bart's experience as a CPA spans forty years. He has service time in both public accounting and as CFO for a regional, privately held, commercial/industrial general contractor.
His public accounting experience (1979 to 1995, 2015 and forward) encompasses a full range of client services. Those services include assurance services, tax compliance, acquisitions consulting, business consulting, budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning and litigation support. Industries served include construction, auto dealerships, resort property sales/management, manufacturing, wholesale/distribution, retail sales, and others.
From 1995 to 2015 Bart served as CFO for a privately held construction company. His duties involved management of the finance, surety/bank credit, accounting, human resources and risk management functions. During his twenty years there, he encountered numerous business challenges, including credit issues, IRS audits, DOL audits, lawsuits, expanding territories, opening new offices, accounting/IT system conversions, succession planning. He was "in the trenches" and, consequently, knows firsthand how to deal with these issues. Most CPAs gain their experience as an advisor from the sidelines not as the soldier leading the battle.
In 2013, in recognition of his knowledge and management skill, Bart was named as a "Financial Executive of the Year" by the Triad Business Journal.
Unique work history
Bart's work history and blend of talents are both rare in today's marketplace. Over 35 years, he worked for just two employers, demonstrating loyalty and dedication to meeting Company goals. Going forward as a business owner, he will carry the same dedication in his approach to helping his clients achieve success.
In addition to his length of service, and equally as important, the quality of experience he has gained during his career is of the highest quality. Rarely do you find a CPA who has over twenty years of industry experience with one employer. It is typical for many CPAs to have some type of industry experience. Few who stay long enough, working in the trenches to learn the business end, will then carry that experience to the public accounting arena. The length of service time in industry makes Bart unique. His business knowledge will be invaluable to all his clients but is especially relevant to those in the construction industry.
